Leading cultural change by inspiring people, deriving purpose, and building resilience.
“Be good at your job, and be a good person”. Two fundamental lessons my father taught me when I joined the Military.
Through these wise words and my desire to show value through acts of service, I naturally gravitated to the defence force to serve my people and my country. It was there that I learned how to lead high performance and elite teams, to achieve anything, anywhere, at any time. This is where I found a true sense of purpose in defending and protecting those who were innocent, and taking the fight to those who were not.
After 16 years in the military and over 100 combat missions serving within the Special Forces it was time to adjust back to living a civilian life. I initially failed at this as I did not take the time to plan, prepare and act with true purpose. I felt irrelevant and almost gave up on life in August 2020. Fortunately, I realised just in time, that the only person who was holding me back was myself.
It was through these experiences that I came to realise that by simply taking action for the right reasons, we can unite and empower each other to do what needs to be done, now. It has become my mission to combine my experience as a professional leader, loss of identity, inner struggles and love of country to solve some of the bigger problems we face in this country. It is by addressing the core within us, not just the symptoms, that we will find the solutions to the real world problems in our society.
I am a fierce advocate for veterans, and finding better pathways from service to everyday life. I stand with those who are struggling to realise their full potential: from veterans to everyday Australians, with those who are bullied or those struggling to find acceptance and openness in any community.
It is my responsibility to harness my lived experiences and put into practice all that I have been trained to achieve. To pursue excellence in actions and words. Doing so forever responsible, never entitled, and through leadership by example – always accountable. To help build better Australians, united with purpose and boundless in potential.
voice of a veteran
I founded Voice of a Veteran (now Veteran Support Force) after my own experiences leaving the military and struggling through life after service. We need to join together, speak out, and take action. To do what is needed to better support our Veterans now. Because better Veterans make a better Australia.
join the community
Planning in isolation is planning to fail. Teamwork, together, is where true results and potential are made. Let's join together for whatever the future may bring, and to be our best when it is needed.
